What If Your Community Found Itself Alone?
Recently I discovered Jared Diamond’s book, The World Until Yesterday. He compares life in our current civilizations with that in traditional ways of living dating back many thousands of years. Traditional communities consisted of two or three hundred people, all of whom knew each other and whose lives as well as fates intertwined. I wondered what life would be like for us if we suddenly found ourselves in their place.
The Great Shift in ConsciousnessFor centuries we have lived lives that have been directed by our minds. We have allowed our head to lead, ignoring the messages that have come from our hearts. We have accepted that life is all about competition, profit, individualism, winning and war. We have ignored the leadings of our hearts that speak more of cooperation, compassion, kindness and love.
City Versus Rural LifestyleAs a non-city dweller by choice, I am always bothered by those who tell us that living in the city are more convenient, more efficient, and a better way to run human society. It’s none of those things. Let me explain my thesis and some of the critique I have for this push to move people into the city – I think that is a disaster waiting to happen for humankind.
A Democratic, Demographic Problem That Brings the End of America As Forecast by Daniel the ProphetAmerica, founded as a republic, is now a democracy where the majority vote money for themselves in welfare programs, etc. Demographics are an impending problem with amnesty of illegal aliens, as suggested by by Daniel’s prophetic book.
Reclaiming Anger So We Can Speak Truth to PowerI firmly believe that people are what they do. We are only as “good” as our actions; that is to say, it is what we do, as opposed to what we think about doing, or what we feel about something, that defines who we are as an individual. Certainly, there is a relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, but in the end, it is what we choose to do and say that matters. Now, I’m not saying that every last decision we make can be considered a mission statement on The Kind Of Person We Are; rather, it is the collective sum of our actions that makes that statement.
Is Hell Real or a Weapon of Terror?Hell is a threat that makes people toe the line and hopefully follow leaders. It is something that has become a weapon of terror and responsible for mass murder.
Humans Suffer Because of the Retribution of God and Loss of SpiritualityIgnorance keeps people in the dark about most things while religions deliberately try to hide the real God for the false ones they promote. As we approach the last days the Spirit determined to reveal the truth about life and why things happen that hurt us.
Promoters of Equality Are Cheating Us All – Beware of the Buzz Word and Know Thy HistoryWhy are we allowing the media to “second” the political rhetoric calling for “equality” at a time in America where equal opportunity and equality under the law has never been higher? Still, we are told that the United States of America ranks behind most nations in “equality” even though we practically invented the concept when we penned our Bill of Rights and attached those notations to our law of the land. Think about that for moment.
Jury Duty – Am I Normal?Have you ever wondered if you’re normal? Just a regular person? It’s been said that we define normal by virtue of our environment–our sphere of being influenced by those that influence us most. That’s how most of us measure normal, right? Well, I had an unexpected test recently as well as a first–I was not only summoned but selected to serve on a criminal jury. But, first things first.
Vegan For ANY ReasonMy latest rumination has been about the whole “Vegan For Any Reason” movement gaining a strong foothold in the animal rights community. The basic argument is that if you get people to go vegan for any reason, including their own health, that’s fine – you’re still saving lives and it doesn’t matter why they are being saved. And of course, in a gut-level, utilitarian fashion, that’s true. But that approach makes me queasy, for a few reasons. First and foremost, when people become vegan because of their own health, the ultimate motivation to stay vegan is weaker than it would be if they were doing it out of the knowledge that death lay behind their previous animal-oriented diets. We all don’t need to beat cancer or lose 350 pounds. We all don’t want to compete in the triathlon or make it to the cover of some magazine. We just want to live our lives and feel as good as possible within the confines of what we feel is reasonable.
Women Are Discriminated Against Because of Mother GodMen are still besotted by the Mother God although she has taken different forms in modern life. The stylised images are more sophisticated and stories have multiplied her magic to the point where the physical woman is no comparison.
The Many Faces of Happy MeatLocavores and ex-vegetarians alike seem to share some common misconceptions about locally-sourced animal products. For example, they seem to believe that the environmental waste associated with meat, dairy, and egg production will be lower on a small-scale farm than on a factory farm or CAFO (confined animal feeding operation). But perhaps the most persistent fantasy soothing the minds of eaters of “happy meat” is the idea that small-scale or sustainable farming is inherently cruelty-free. To the contrary, small-scale farms routinely practice all of the cruelties inherent in the exploitation of animals for their flesh and body products. And, because of lack of oversight, small-scale farms may be even more likely than corporate farms to be the site of extreme abuse and neglect.
