Special session 2019: Facebook’s Approach to Youth Safety and Bullying Prevention

The faltering state of creativity is suggestive of the current condition of societal interaction that lacks a profound sense of originality, imagination and vision. That is only the starting point of the perspective that points in the direction of society’s failure to ascend to higher levels of intellectual awakening. Creativeness transcends all that has gone before and provokes a different way of looking at the reality of human actions. The quest is to transform and rise above through a myriad pathways to a loftier level of thought and subsequent achievement.

Several years ago when I worked as a psychologist I met a woman in her early thirties. She came to see me because she felt overwhelmed by current life challenges. I asked her how she had handled difficult times in the past. She told me that could not think of any such times in her life. Now that she finally faced a challenge she had no idea where to start in dealing with it. This is the theme of the book. Our children from their first years through college have often been overprotected (coddled) to the point where they have little resilience when faced with challenges which are an inevitable part of life.

Rationalists try to be objective and mysticists try to be subjective. Reason and mystery, Apollo and Dionysius, they have always been opposed. Is it at all possible to have them balanced in a person, or even a society?

Quite consciously and not accidentally, not excusably, murdering thoughts is the purposeful carnality in selfish arrogant and malevolent intention to kill another person. Alternatively, depending on your particular slant, perhaps one could consider the killing of another life form. However, in particular reference to this point of preference, thinking is the primacy of the willful transition from ideation to termination. Herein, criminality is the emphasis, and may include individuals or heads of state.

The early Asante forebears of Ghana intelligently crafted many symbols that philosophically instructed society members on the moral code of living. This assisted greatly in promoting social cohesion and peaceful relationship amongst themselves. A critical analysis of the symbols reveals the ingenuity of the Asante forebears. Crafted since the 1600s, many of these symbols have symbolic interpretations which when pondered over give insightful advice that enriches the moral currency of those who abide by them. One of such important Ghanaian symbols is the ‘Bi-Nka-Bi’.

Not too long ago, I reviewed John Meachum’s book, The Soul of America. I noted that the soul of which he speaks is a patchwork of all of those who inhabit America and as such is a messy concept to describe and make sense of. Our collective soul is a fabric woven from our individual souls. But what does this mean?

Dystopic, as in a state of intellectual regression, suggests the phases of counterproductive discourse, or storytelling, which suffers the intentional erosion of social creativity. With a superficiality of supposed originality, or even a pretense to inventiveness, personifying “political correctness” or divisive “subcultural agenda”, lazily masquerade as informative works of art. Rife is the social interactivity of superficial human exchanges and heavily influenced from myriad pseudoscientific perspectives. From incessant selfies to shallow postings, the depth of intellectual reach is most often a short grasp at meaningless regurgitations.

Many probably have never heard of the Roman Emperor, Claudius Constantine, who ruled the greatest empire of the ancient world for more than 30 years. He was charismatic, handsome, and some would say a great general. That is because he wiped out his enemies and their entire families.

In 2018, the topic of racism fills the media and the minds of all people in the US. However, the fear of racism may be unwarranted. When you look at the recent history of the US, there are strong signs that racism died decades ago. Yet, if people hold on to tragedies of the distant past, they will have a difficult time seeing that a new era has been ushered in. This article explores that possibility. It examines whether or not black America has closed the door to the proverbial door of opportunity. Could the current state of inequality in America be the result of negligence by black Americans?
